Operating under the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs (ZHO), the Zayed Agricultural Center for Development and Rehabilitation was established in 1994. Based in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, ZHO serves as an umbrella organisation for all humanitarian bodies, social services, institutions for People of Determination, and any future entities created in Abu Dhabi with humanitarian objectives.
ZHO offers a comprehensive range of integrated services designed to rehabilitate People of Determination and enable their inclusion within the wider community. These services include training and education, vocational and therapeutic rehabilitation (covering assessment, early intervention, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and vocational training workshops), psychological care, family counselling, and support for educational and sporting activities.
The Center for Development and Rehabilitation empowers students to play an active role in society by equipping them with essential life skills and fostering creativity. Participants are encouraged to engage with staff about their products and understand how they were grown or crafted. They would also have the opportuniyy to discuss and negotiate prices, reflecting core aspects of commerce and modern-day society.
Further, the center supports organic farming initiatives, helping participants grow fruits and vegetables using modern and efficient methods. Additionally, it contributes to ZHO’s broader efforts to invest in the talents and capabilities of People of Determination by providing permanent employment opportunities at the new packaging center. Specially designed training programmes further enhance professional skills, preparing participants to meet the needs of the job market while raising societal awareness of their contributions.
This initiative reflects the organisation’s core philosophy: to provide individuals with the tools and skills to empower themselves and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of their communities.
